As he rightly pointed, the new survey reveals that Google Maps is the most preferred navigation app used by the majority of smartphone users and Google Maps comes as the rescuer for anyone who has been lost. The Survey that was carried out by 'The Manifest', shows about 77% of the smartphone users regularly use the navigation apps and of the 77%, Google maps application has been used by 67% of the users and these users have stated that Google Maps app is filled with clear directions, preferred features, user-friendly designs, and best directions for non-drivers.
Google Maps said in an official statement that " With more than one billion people turning to Google Maps to see and explore the world, we're celebrating our 15th birthday with a new look and product updates based on feedback from you". The application is the second most important product of Google after Search and Google Maps has traffic of more than one billion monthly active users and it has been designed to deliver turn-by-turn navigation almost anywhere in the world.
Over the past fifteen years, the company has invested many billions of dollars for Google Maps. Certainly, these huge investments hadn't flopped away from the expectations of both the company and users as the application has been built with comprehensive data for about 200 countries and territories and it carries the information on more than 150 million locations and places and it covers about 40 million miles of roads with 25 million data updates on daily basis. Google Maps had become an inevitable application and it would grow in the future, stronger and more innovative as we are in the world full of smartphones. Smartphones have become an essential commodity for everyone so is Google Maps.
Google Maps has been enhancing with new features every year like offering advice about when to change lanes, rerouting to avoid traffic that would bring us more closer and more connected and for its 15th birthday, the app adds new insights to the map including Temperature, Safety, and Accessibility on Public transport. It also provides insights on designated carriages in public transport for women and the security insights including the presence of a security guard, installed security cameras, and available helpline numbers. The reports say that the Silicon Valley giant has gained more inspiration from India towards designing multiple features for Google maps. For example, Google Maps now provides information about public toilets in a particular location and this feature was inspired by the Swachh Bharat Mission. The reports have stated that these insights would be programmed in the application in March.
The World still has miles to go so is Google Maps. Let's take a moment to wish a happy birthday for our technological friend who has been living for us the whole day and the whole year, bringing the world closer like never before.
