That 'one-minute call' made Jayam Ravi on cloud nine!...This popular icon showers on Ponniyin Selvan

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, which has been basking in the rain of good reviews from various biggies, the next which has lifted is a wish from Tamil cinema's Superstar. He had a one-minute good talk with Jayam Ravi, who played Arunmozhivarman in the great periodic epic, where Jayam Ravi says that the call 'made my day, my year and added a whole new meaning to my career. Ponniyin Selvan was released on 30th September after keeping as a 'dream project' for Mani Ratnam, for more than 30 years.

Adding to the lauds, he lately shared that Rajinikanth appreciated his character after watching the film. The actor took us to Twitter and wrote on Tuesday evening, "That 1 minute conversation made my day, my year and added a whole new meaning to my career. Thank you Thalaiva for your kind words & childlike enthusiasm. I’m overwhelmed, humbled & blessed to know you loved the movie & my performance @rajinikanth sir"

The flick astonishingly made Rs 80 crore worldwide on its opening day, and it is currently crossing Rs 250 crore globally. According to a report by industry trackers, the movie earned $4.13 million in its first four days at the US box office, making it the best-performing Tamil movie ever.

The historical drama features an ensemble cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobitha Dhulipala, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Jayachitra, Rahman, Kishore, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman and Nasser.

With cinematography by Ravi Varman, music for the film was created by music legend AR Rahman. The second part is scheduled for release in 2023 and is backed by Mani Ratnam's own production banner, Madras Talkies and Allirajah Subaskaran's label Lyca Productions.
