Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Annaatthe' comes home...Streaming on OTT: Here's where you can watch!

Superstar Rajinikanth starred Annaatthe has come home as it has been streaming now on OTT (Over-the-top) platforms in three weeks of its theatrical release. Annaatthe was released on November 4 as a Diwali special and despite getting bad reviews, the movie has done well at the box office and it is still running in the theatres across and beyond the borders. 

The movie has now been streaming on Netflix and SunNXT and in addition to Tamil, it is also available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Annaatthe was the first Tamil movie in two years to get released in the theatres with 100% occupancy. It was released on OTT on November 25 and the development has drawn mixed sense of shock and surprise with a section of people opposing the premature OTT release when the movie is still running in the theatres. 

Annaatthe has attracted bad and disappointing reviews from the fans and the movie has however managed to do well at the box office. Annaatthe was released in 1,100 overseas theatres, the biggest such release for a Tamil film. A few industry experts had said that the movie had bagged Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend. A Film industry tracker has said that Annaatthe has become a profitable venture for both makers and exhibitors across the world and it has been a blockbuster movie commercially. 

The movie is into its third week and it has been reported that it has raked over Rs 239 crore at the global box office. The reports say that the movie has successfully crossed Rs 150 crore-mark in Tamil Nadu alone, which indicated that the fans are still giving good reception for the movie. 2021 has become a crucial year for the theatres in reviving from the lockdown and in line with Master and Doctor, Annaatthe's commercial hit had given good life for theatres for a comeback. 

Annaatthe is an action film bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures and directed by Siva. While Rajinikanth plays the lead role, Nayanathara, Keerthy Suresh, Jagapathi Babu, Meena, Khushbu Soori, Prakash Raj, Vela Ramamoorthy, Sathish, Satyan, and Pandiarajan had acted in important roles. National Award-winning composer D Imman had composed the music while Vetri and Ruben had done cinematography and editing respectively. The movie's total budget was Rs 180 crore and now, it has bagged Rs 239.21 crore.
