Suriya vs BJP...Will the actor accept the challenge from the Central ruling party?

A day after passing a resolution against actor Suriya warning him of facing legal action, the Tamil Nadu BJP has challenged and invited the actor for a public debate with the party. Tensions have been brewing between the actor and the saffron camp with his fans and political parties are coming in support of Suriya and castigating the BJP for passing a resolution in the fashion of curbing the voice.

The Tamil Nadu BJP Youth wing has on Sunday passed a resolution of warning actor Suriya for speaking against the Modi regime and criticizing NEET. The resolution has come days after the actor had strongly slammed the national entrance exam by stating that it loots the future of the poor students in Tamil Nadu. In the youth wing meeting, the party has passed seven resolutions to affirm allegiance to the Modi regime. One of these seven resolutions had condemned Suriya's campaign against NEET.

The BJP, through the resolution, has claimed that the actor continues to speak untruthfully about NEET and has been voicing against the public welfare schemes of the Modi government and laws with the motive for self-promotion. The party has also reprimanded actor Suriya for protesting against the Cinematography Amendment Bill (CAB) 2021. In a fashion of warning the actor, the BJP's youth wing has said that it will initiate legal action against Suriya if he continues his protest against NEET and CAB.

In another resolution, the BJP's youth wing has condemned the Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government for spreading misinformation about NEET and confusing people. The party has also passed a resolution praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of the Covid crisis across the country, especially the second wave. Another resolution has urged the state government to reopen Navodaya schools in the state.

The resolutions against the actor had sparked outrage across the state with several politicians slamming the Central ruling party for adopting such resolutions. The resolutions have come at a high time when the BJP and the state-ruling DMK are locking horns over NEET. As voices have been growing in support of Suriya against the BJP, the saffron party has now invited the actor for a public debate. Tamil Nadu BJP General Secretary Karu Nagarajan had called the actor for the debate.

While addressing the reporters on Monday at the BJP state headquarters, Nagarajan claimed that the party has passed a resolution against Suriya as the actor has abruptly been opposing the NEET and CAB by closing his eyes. Nagarajan has further said that BJP is always ready for a public debate with Suriya and challenged the actor to come forward for a debate. On the other hand, the BJP has invited major flak from the opposition parties for passing the resolution against the actor.

Tamil Nadu Marxist Communist General Secretary Balakrishnan has voiced in support of Suriya and said that the actor has legitimately been placing his dissent against NEET and CAB. But the BJP has passed a resolution in the fashion of threatening him which shows the party's cowardice. Taking to Twitter, Balakrishnan further said that the resolution must be condemned and BJP has deliberately been targeting individuals.
