Maamannan, the upcoming film by Mari Selvaraj starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, has a special treat for music lovers and comedy fans. The film features a song sung by the popular comedian Vadivelu, who has joined hands with the Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman for the first time.

The song is expected to be a fun-filled number and the duo has teamed up for the first time to create a song that will surely be a hit among the fans of both the artists. Rahman took to his social media to share the news and posted some pictures with Vadivelu and the team at the recording studio.

He wrote, “Recorded a song with our Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu …He made us laugh throughout and made our session very memorable! #mariselvaraj and the #Mamannan team”. Vadivelu, fondly called ‘Vaigai Puyal’ by his fans, is known for his impeccable comic timing and hilarious expressions, and his comeback made an exciting reception from the fans.

He has also sung a few songs in his previous films, such as ‘Ettanaa Irundha’ in ‘Ellame En Rasathan’, ‘Vikkalu’ in Bhagavathi, and "Appatha" in Naai Sekar Returns. Despite having worked with numerous films which the composer scored, including Mr. Romeo, Kadhalan, and Sillunu oru Kadhal, this is Vadivelu's first time working on a song with him.

Maamannan is Udhayanidhi Stalin’s last film before focusing on his political career. He plays the titular role in the film, while Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil play his love interest and rival respectively. Vadivelu is said to be played as an MLA and Udhayanidhi’s father in the film.

The film marks the first collaboration between Mari Selvaraj and AR Rahman after the director's previous ventures, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ and ‘Karnan’. Vadivelu also has Chandramukhi 2, the sequel to the Superstar starter Chandramukhi which was released in 2005, helmed by P Vaasu. There are also reports that Vadivelu and Vijay Sethupathi are joining up for a film, where P Arumugakumar is said to be directing the film.
