Sushant Singh Rajput: How the on screen 'captain cool' ended his life and what it means to the industry?

"Suicide is not the solution"- this was the theme line of the movie Chhichhore where Sushant Singh Rajput advocates his son in an attempt of rescuing him from the utmost distress and depression...sadly, the depression still lives and it has bravely taken the life of one of the bold and talented actors, leaving the Bollywood fraternity with deep pain and tears.

Before the camera, Sushant Singh Rajput embraced his son in Chhichhore from depression as 'Suicide is not the solution', but behind the camera, Rajput had shown he had no other option other than taking his own lives after he killed himself at his home in Mumbai on Sunday - June 14, letting the industry and his fans to mourn for the untimely demise while they are yet to recover from the losses of legends Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor - oh, what a dreadful year it had been? 

From Coronavirus pandemic, health care, and humanitarian crises, to the losses of thousands of people including celebrities - 2020 has become one of the most unwelcoming years of the century, with having no idea what the second half has got. The 'Gone too soon' demise of Rajput had alarmed the Bollywood fraternity to take a call sooner rather than later. As Karan Johar rightly put out, his death is a huge 'wakeup call' for the industry.

Johar said, "I have felt at times like you may have needed people to share your life with but somehow I never followed up on that feeling, will never make that mistake again".  Rajput was perfectly called as a talented and one of the most vibrant actors in the Bollywood industry and he had exemplified and polished his talents and qualities in every year and in every movie and kept his smile and passion.

His audacity and passion had successfully handled the pressure that was levied on him when he portrayed captain cool MS Dhoni, on the screen in 2016 released 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'.

It was one of the most expected and celebrated movies of Rajput where he perfectly etched the life of MS Dhoni and his transformation. It was a great responsibility of acting as Dhoni as if one moment slips, it would earn thousands of critics from the fans of Dhoni, who worship the latter as their god. Portraying the all-time greatest Indian skipper wasn't an easy task and his excellent ride with the exorbitant burden on his shoulders yield him the fame and name in the industry, and indeed more recognitions and responsibility.

Rajput's passion had driven him to huge success. Being a bright student at his university, he dropped out of his education and pursued a career in acting and dance. He made his debut with ZEE Tv serial Pavitra Rishta in 2009 and from then on, no turnbacks! The passion and endurance on his career had awarded him with the breakthrough in 2013, where 'Kai Po Che'- the film that he acted won acclaim at the Berlin Film Festival.

Although he acted in 11 movies predominantly in Bollywood, he gardened his potential in most of his roles, which in turn bestowed him with higher recognitions. The actor has bagged nine awards in his career which brightened him as a rising star of the industry and hold a testament of how phenomenal and significant his contribution was to the industry and at that time no one has imagined that this star would slump and demise and create an irreplaceable vacuum. From 'Kai Po Che' to 'Chhichhore', Rajput successfully registered his name in the industry.

When most of his fans and followers admired him and kept his smiling images on their wallpapers on their mobiles, they got a pop-up notification which had taken them to the utmost grief, as most of the fans and in the industry went speechless after hearing the death of Rajput, who hanged himself in his Mumbai apartment. According to the reports, he was under deep depression and was getting treated for the past several months. He was 34 when he quitted his life, ultimately not in the age of leaving the world.

The autopsy confirmed that he has died of asphyxiation due to hanging as Rajput has become a yet another victim swallowed by depression. The demise of one of the brightest stars had let the industry with one of the darkest days. While Bollywood mourns for the back to back losses of some of the potential and able stars, it has ought to address the depression among its fraternity. Rajput was more affectionate to his mother, who died in 2002 when he was a teenager.

On June 3rd, Rajput shared his and his mother's pics on Instagram when he remembered his mother. After ten days, he made the industry to remember him after departing the world, leaving his deprived fans to ask one question -Why? In 2016, through acting 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', Rajput motivated and inspired everyone by telling the success story of MS Dhoni. However, Rajput has kept his story untold, kept his pain behind his smile, and departed the world by ending his hope. Its indeed the 'Gone too soon' demise and its time for the cinema fraternity to 'Get well soon', as suicide is not the only solution.
