Corona Kumar is rumoured to be the next project for director Gokul of Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, and the film will be Silambarasan TR's 48th overall. Reports have surfaced recently, however, suggesting that Love Today's director and star will return for this project. The speculated dramady 'Corona Kumar' reportedly stars Fahadh Faasil also expected to make a cameo appearance.

Production company Vels Film International released a one-minute title reveal video for the film back in 2021. In the clip, the film's title is announced by three men in lion masks and a Chennai Super Kings jersey. Corona Kumar was previously reported to be a spin-off of Idharkuthane, prompting rumours that Idharkuthane's original cast, including Vijay Sethupathi, would reprise their roles in the upcoming film.

Despite Producer Ishari K Ganesh's announced at the film's trailer launch in September 2022 that Simbu will once again work with his production house on another film titled "Corona Kumar," directed by Gokul. But unfortunately Simbu has other commitments, it has been reported that Pradeep Ranganathan, who rose to prominence with the film 'Love Today,' will take over the lead role.

As the director of the critically acclaimed Kollywood hits "Comali" and "Love Today," Pradeep Ranganathan is now branching out into acting, and given the fact that the film sets in dark comedy, fans are eager to see him to carry the film with his top-notch casual acting skills as he nails the next door boy look, which will be perfect for this genre film. The filmmaker Gokul also helmed Kashmora with Karthi in the lead, and he also finished Singapore Saloon in the mean time which starred RJ Balaji.

Pathu Thala, for which AR Rahman provided the first song, is set to be released on February 3 as part of Simbu's 39th birthday festivities. And it's possible that Simbu and Lingusamy are currently in discussions about a fresh venture, possibly the actor's 50th film. Interestingly, following his success with Vallavan, the actor has also revealed recently that he will soon begin filming his second directorial effort.
