Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi Palaniswami's mother has passed away at the age of 93!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami's mother Thavusayammal has passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday in Salem at the age of 93 due to the age-related ailments. The Chief Minister had rushed to Salem from Chennai by road to pay last respects to his demised mother. 

According to reports, the Chief Minister's mother was getting treated at a private hospital in Salem for her age-related ailments. However, her health had been deteriorating and she breathed her last at around 1 am on Tuesday morning due to cardiac arrest. After knowing the sad news, the Chief Minister had started from Chennai and reached Salem by road. 

Edappadi Palaniswami was scheduled to attend a COVID-19 review meeting in Thoothukudi district. However, following the demise of his mother, all the meetings were canceled and the senior ministers and party leaders had gathered Siluvampalayam in Salem, where the Chief Minister had arrived to pay his last respects. 

The reports say the Chief Minister and his relatives had paid their last respects. Senior Tamil Nadu Minister P Thangamani had also paid homage to the deceased mother and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam had expressed his condolences to the Chief Minister over the phone and Panneerselvam would be reaching Salem on Tuesday afternoon. 

Thavusayammal was surviving by her two sons - Edappadi Palaniswami and Govindaraj and a daughter Vijayalakshmi. After learning the demise of the Chief Minister's mother, state ruling and opposition political leaders have been paying their condolences. Leaders like BJP President L Murugan, DMK President MK Stalin, MDMK Chief Vaiko, VCK Chief Thirumavalavan, and IJK Chief Paarivendhar had paid their tributes.
