The students of Government Arts college in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district had quaked the premises through their strong protests against the government's failing face towards constructing proper infrastructure and sanitation facilities for the students.
It has been reported that the students would have to rush to the canteen or to nearby shops to purchase drinking water as the college grounds runs with shortage on proper drinking water facilities. While commenting about this uncertainty, one of the organizers and the district president of Students Federation of India had said that the college premises have only six taps through which the students have to acquire water and currently out of those six, only one is been functioning in the place which have about 4,000 students and further stated that the students will only get salty water, despite the college administration can claim that those are drinking water taps. This is one of demands for which the students had united and flagged protests for having proper access to basic amenities.
One of the students had revealed that the college houses only two washrooms with four toilets each where only two toilets are currently in usable condition while the rest have been under damage for a long while and the administration had failed to renovate the damaged units to have proper and safe sanitation facilities and further cited that the restrooms won't be cleaned frequently and the lecturers have similar damaged restrooms.

The students had accused the college administration for cleaning the college premises only during the visit of NAAC committee where they would allegedly involved by the college management to clean the premises prior to every visit.
While questioned about the discrepancies and lack of proper sanitation facilities, the college principal had said that the college management has been initiating all necessary steps to equip the premises with access to basic amenities amidst the financial difficulties and stated that the management had asked the students to place their demands in writing which they haven't furnished yet and indicated that the administration has been utilizing the funds from the parent-teachers association and the Old Students Association towards providing clear, proper and safe sanitation and drinking water facilities.
