Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Thangamani has poured major relief for the state residents after asserting that the state won't be encountering power cuts during summer this year as it has been equipped with adequate power supply and generation.
On Thursday, the Minister inaugurated the power substation in Namakkal district and while addressing the event, Thangamani said that the state has been coming through the summer season and the current usage of power has reached 15,000 megawatts. He stated that the government has predicted that the usage would rise to 17,000 megawatts during April and May.

By citing that the government has been installing such substations with the view of ensuring the uninterrupted power supply, the Minister added that the state has been filled with sufficient power supply if the usage reaches more than 17,000 megawatts and assured that by having the adequate supply, generation, and distribution, the state won't come through the power cuts during the summer.

The reports stated that in the inauguration ceremony, the Minister requested the general public to work along with the state government by providing lands for the use of projects and to install such power stations. The government currently operates 119 power substations whereas about 130 additional stations have currently under construction which would likely be inaugurated by the end of this year. The assurance from the Minister has brought in huge relief for the residents who have been regularly facing power cuts in summer. It has been reported that the power station in Namakkal would be generating 110 kilowatts of electricity and the facility has been set up by the government at the cost of Rs 10.28 crore.
