Thala for a reason... Actor Ajith donates Rs 1.25 crore for Corona prevention!

Actor Ajith Kumar, one of the well-reputed actors with huge fan following and stardom in the movie industry, has donated Rs 1.25 crore for the governments and the film employees federation as a relief fund to fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) and economic instability.

India has been going through the unprecedented lockdown since March 25th to curb the spread of the pandemic in its territory and the economy and markets have been plunging due to the shut down of the major companies, establishments, and suspension of the transportations. Most of the employees were either advised to work from home or ought to lose their pay due to the closures of the industries. The Central government and various governments have asked the people to stay in the home and appealed for the contribution to combat the spread and to ease the economic instability.

Since then, people from various backgrounds including businessmen, actors, sportsperson, and people from several government sectors have been extending their contributions to the government's relief fund. In line with that, Tamil actor Ajith Kumar has donated Rs 1.25 crore relief fund as his part of the contribution to the fight against the virus. According to the reports, of this relief fund, the actor has donated Rs 50 lakh to the Prime Minister's fund, Rs 50 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Relief Fund, and the actor has contributed the rest of Rs 25 lakh to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).

His contribution to FEFSI was aimed to relax the economic instability incurred by the film workers belong to the Federation as the movie-shootings have been suspended due to the statewide lockdown. Ajith has been one of the first in line actors to donate to the Prime Minister's and Chief Minister's Relief Fund and he is one among the actors to provide relief aid to the Federation.

Last month, according to the reports, Actor Rajinikanth has donated Rs 50 lakh towards the relief fund while the family of Actor Sivakumar including Surya and Karthi had donated Rs 10 lakh and actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Sivakarthikeyan had donated Rs 10 lakh each. Actor Prakash Raj had provided 150 bags of rice with 25 kilograms each to the employees of FEFSI who are facing shut down due to the spread of the global pandemic. Actor Parthiepan had donated 250 rice bags while Actor Manobala has also provided rice bags as his contribution towards easing the survival of the daily wage workers.
