The shooting of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is yet to be completed. But that hasn’t stopped the speculations about his next project, Thalapathy 68. Earlier, it was reported that Atlee, Karthik Subbaraj, Sudha Kongara and Gopichand Malineni were in talks to direct Vijay’s 68th film.

However, none of them were confirmed by the makers. Now, the latest buzz is that Venkat Prabhu, who is known for his quirky and fun films, has been roped in to helm Thalapathy 68. This news has sent the fans of Vijay into a frenzy, as they are excited to see what kind of film Venkat Prabhu will make with their favourite star.

Venkat Prabhu is currently basking in the success of his bilingual film Custody, starring Naga Chaitanya, Arvind Swami and Krithi Shetty. The film, which released on May 12, has received mixed and positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its mix of conflict and humour. Venkat Prabhu has also announced that he will be making a sequel to Custody soon.

However, sources close to the project have revealed that he has been approached by Super Good Films to direct Thalapathy 68. The production house is celebrating its 100th film with Vijay and wants to make it a grand affair. Venkat Prabhu has reportedly narrated a script to Vijay and the actor was impressed by it. The director is said to be working on the final draft and will soon make an official announcement.

Thalapathy 68 is expected to be a different genre from Venkat Prabhu’s previous films. The director is known for his comedy capers like Chennai 600028, Goa and Mankatha. However, he has also experimented with horror (Massu Engira Masilamani), thriller (Biriyani) and action (Custody). It remains to be seen what kind of film he will make with Vijay, who is known for his mass appeal and versatility.
