Thalapathy Vijay's next major plan...Is he going to join hands with this blockbuster team?

While Thalapathy Vijay is currently in the outing with director Nelson Dilipkumar for what has tentatively been named as 'Thalapathy 65', the latest talk in Kollywood is Vijay's next major plan to serve another big treat to the ardent fans. The buzz is growing in the Tamil industry amid the fact that Thalapathy 65, for which the shooting was going at a rapid pace, might get delayed in the release in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic triggered restrictions.

What's his next plan? The reports say that Vijay is planning to join hands again with the 'Master' co-producer and distributor Lalit Kumar for a new film, which would become Thalapathy 66. If all goes by the plan, Lokesh Kanagaraj will be directing Vijay again in Thalapathy 66 after 'Master'. Though there was no official announcement concerning the same, the talks have been unfolding behind the screens.

If the plan inches towards the confirmation, Lokesh Kanagaraj will be joining hands with Vijay after completing his current project 'Vikram', starred by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. The pandemic has to unveil the answer about the reunification of the blockbuster team. Currently, the restrictions from the state government in containing the COVID-19 spread had halted the shooting of the movie, leaving Kollywood to go deserted.

While it was reported earlier that Vijay will be joining hands with Telugu producer Dil Raju for Thalapathy 66, the reports say that the actor has planned to join Raju for Thalapathy 67, which will be directed by 'Thozha' and 'Maharshi' fame Vamsi Paidipally. If all goes well, Thalapathy 67 will mark Vijay's first-ever straight Telugu film. Paidipally has been preparing the script with an emotional action drama which is also going to have all the commercial factors.

The reports say that Dil Raju has decided to make Thalapathy 67 a big one in budget and in the story. Dil Raju has risen to popularity by producing Pawan Kalyan's 'Vakeel Saab', which has garnered immense reception across and beyond Tollywood. Thalapathy 67 will be a bilingual project and Dil Raju has also decided to offer Vijay a 50% of the total movie's budget as his salary after Vijay has bagged huge remuneration in 'Master'.

It was reported that Vijay has got Rs 80 crore as his salary for Master and Dil Raju, who is known for producing massive budget movies, has decided to go beyond Master's salary. As the total budget of Thalapathy 67 would be around Rs 160 crore, the Vakeel Saab producer has decided to pay around Rs 90 crore for Vijay as his remuneration for Thalapathy 66 and if it becomes official, it will be the highest remuneration for Vijay in his four-decades cinematic career.

While there are strong talks that Vijay will be joining hands with Lalit Kumar and Dil Raju for Thalapathy 66 and Thalapathy 67 respectively, the production houses like Mythri Movie Makers and Sri  Thenandal Films have also approached Vijay, but he hasn't given his acceptance to do movies with them yet. Currently, Vijay is busy with Thalapathy 65 directed by Kolamavu Kokila fame Nelson Dilipkumar.

Thalapathy 65 is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures and Anirudh will be composing the music. While Vijay will play the lead role, Pooja Hegde will be playing the female lead and there are speculations that Bollywood actor John Abraham will play antagonist against Vijay. However, it wasn't official and through Thalapathy 65, Pooja Hegde will be returning to the Tamil industry after eight years. While the movie team has planned to release the movie on the occasion of Diwali 2021, the COVID-19 lockdown is deferring the shooting and the reports suggest that the release date of Thalapathy 65 might get postponed to Tamil Year, April 2022.
