Thalapathy68 Buzz: This veteran actress to team up with Vijay after 20 years!

The tinseltown is buzzing with excitement as the news of a possible reunion of one of the most popular on-screen pairs has surfaced. Thalapathy Vijay and Jyothika, who have delivered super hit films like ‘Kushi’ and ‘Thirumalai’, are reportedly in talks to star together in Vijay’s next film with director Venkat Prabhu.

The film, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 68’, is expected to be a mass entertainer with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and AGS Productions’ backing. According to sources, Venkat Prabhu has approached Jyothika with a powerful role that suits her stature and persona. Jyothika, who has been choosy about her projects after her comeback, has apparently to give a nod to the script and asked for dates in October and November.

If the deal works out, then the fans of Vijay and Jyothika can witness their sizzling chemistry on screen after 20 years. Vijay and Jyothika have been one of the most loved pairs in Tamil cinema, who have impressed the audience with their versatile performances and adorable romance.

Their last film together was ‘Thirumalai’ in 2003, which was a blockbuster at the box office. Since then, they have not shared screen space, despite several attempts by filmmakers to bring them together. For instance, Atlee had approached Jyothika to play one of the female leads in ‘Mersal’, but she declined the offer and Nithya Menen was cast instead.

Now, with Venkat Prabhu’s project, the fans are hoping that the magic of Vijay and Jyothika will be recreated on the big screen. The film is likely to go on floors soon after Vijay completes his current film ‘Leo’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. ‘Leo’ is slated to release on October 19th worldwide and has Trisha and Sanjay Dutt as the other lead actors. The film is said to be a spy thriller with Anirudh’s music and Sathyan Sooryan’s cinematography.

Venkat Prabhu, on the other hand, is busy with the pre-production work of ‘Thalapathy 68’, which will be his first collaboration with Vijay. The director is known for his quirky and stylish films like ‘Mankatha’, ‘Chennai 600028’, ‘Saroja’ and ‘Biriyani’. Venkat Prabhu has expressed his excitement about working with Vijay and has promised to deliver a memorable film for the fans.

‘Thalapathy 68’ is expected to be a grand spectacle with a huge star cast and a lavish budget. The film will also mark the reunion of Vijay and Yuvan Shankar Raja after 20  years. The duo has given some memorable songs in fil, Pudhiya Geethai’ . The film will also have Praveen K.L. as the editor and Rajeevan as the art director.
