ADMK's Coordinator O Panneerselvam, who was former Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has on Thursday expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister MK Stalin for accepting his demand of providing pensions for transportation employees who retired in 2020. The latest gratitude from the ADMK leader has come as his sign of exercising political bonhomie in Tamil Nadu.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Panneerselvam said, "I have asked the Honorable Chief Minister through my statement on 31.05.2021 to immediately provide pensions for the retired transportation employees. I have underlined that the previous ADMK government has allocated funds for providing pensions to the transportation employees who retired in 2020 and couldn't able to provide due to the election norms." 

"As the elections are over, I have asked the Chief Minister to immediately take steps to provide pension benefits to the retired transportation employees. I express my gratitude to the Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for accepting my demand and provided pension benefits for the retired transportation employees on 2.6.2021", Panneerselvam added.

The former Deputy Chief Minister and DMK's rival has been going soft hands with MK Stalin's administration as Panneerselvam has been lauding the Chief Minister for his efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and appealing to the people to adhere to the guidelines issued by the government.

On Thursday, MK Stalin has unveiled several social welfare schemes in the wake of DMK's patriarch Karunanidhi's 98th birth anniversary. He has unveiled the scheme of providing Rs 2,000 to the rice ration cardholders in the state as a COVID-19 relief fund and green-flagged the distribution of 14 kinds of provisions to the ration cardholders through the Public Distribution System (Ration shops). He also had inaugurated the scheme of providing Rs 10 lakh for the family of the reporters who died due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
