'Thank you and I humbly accept': Actor Suriya's first response to Oscar's invitation!

Hours after receiving what has been spelt as a glorious invitation, actor Suriya has accepted the invitation from the Oscars for being a part of its committee in 2022. The popular actor has been flooded with wishes and commendations from across and beyond the borders after becoming the first thespian in South India to get invited to the prestigious club.

Taking to Twitter, Suriya wrote, "Thank you, The Academy for the invitation, which I humbly accept. My heartfelt thanks to all those who wished me, will always strive to make you all proud (sic)." Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has also commended Suriya for the global milestone. MK Stalin wrote, "My commendation to my brother Suriya for his global honour of becoming the first South Indian actor to receive the invitation from the Oscars to be a part of its committee as a recognition for his mature acting and for choosing the stories that are in social interest."

Suriya has expressed his gratitude to MK Stalin and Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan has also congratulated Suriya for receiving the invitation from the Oscars. Kamal Haasan wrote, "Glad my brother @Suriya_offl treads the ground of stars. In spite of gravity, which makes wings weak. We created angels and stars. Hence be a proud brother to join the crowd of excellence." Accepting Kamal's wishes, Suriya wrote, "Thank you anna."

Actor Suriya has added yet another sparkling feather to his cap by becoming the first South Indian actor to achieve the milestone of being inducted into the Oscars Committee. The paramount induction was made possible by the back-to-back global success of the actor's movies 'Soorarai Pottru' and 'Jai Bhim'. It is visible that 2022 has been a spring year for Suriya and his movie Jai Bhim was nominated for the Oscars but didn't make it to the final list.

With more pride, Suriya has now stepped into the Oscars Committee. He is the first Tamil actor to be part of the committee and earlier, Indian stars Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra, Ekta Kapoor, and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman were selected to the Oscars Committee.

The Oscars Academy has officially released the entire list of members on its website. Sharing the same on Twitter, it wrote, "It's time to announce our new members! Meet the Class of 2022." Suriya is a part of the league of 397 members for 2022. The list was released on Tuesday - June 28 and along with Suriya, the list also a handful of Indian artists including popular Bollywood actress Kajol and director Reema Kagti.

Other Indians who have received the invitation this year include documentary filmmakers Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas for their film 'Writing with Fire', which was nominated at the Oscars earlier this year. 'Deadpool' producer Aditya Sood and PR and Marketing professional Sohini Sengupta are the other two Indians who have accepted invitations from the academy.

According to reports, the Class of 2022 includes 71 Oscar nominees and 15 winners. Internet is bringing Surya into light as he is honoured by the Oscar committee's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Panel. The invited members will have to pick a branch and be part of it. Suriya will soon be making his entry into Bollywood as a producer as his own banner 2D Entertainment will be producing the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, which will be starred by Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
