'Thank you MSD for giving us the finest and gentle sport, and the World Cup': We'll miss that 'Man in Blue'!

In a major and, in fact, a shocking development for his fans and for the eyes that starved for his play in Indian team, Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni (39) has announced his retirement from the international cricket on August 15 and one of the finest sport stars in the world has bid a farewell from the international cricket, days ahead of the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

As perfectly nicknamed as Captain Cool for his tendency, leadership, and commitment for the sport, MS Dhoni has been the most loved Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar as the legendary batsman and wicket-keeper ascended to the peak of popularity through his true love on the sport and respect for his teammates and fans. From a faltered batsman to the revolution of being a hope for the team, Dhoni has ruled the grounds across and beyond the borders.

For the past 16 years, he has inspired millions across the nation and been a magnet of love for many by shaping his career, that needs to be preserved and treasured. After Sachin, the Indian Cricket can be differentiated like before and after Dhoni as besides rocking on the field, he has played a pivotal role in reforming Team India from being just a team to the team that made Australians and South Africans think more than twice before taking on the Men in Blue.

From a wicketkeeper to India's most celebrated captain, Dhoni's cricket life has something to teach and it has taught more for many. He revamped the Indian team at the global stage by bringing back the trophies and recognitions that the Indian fans were desperate for. Dhoni's years of captaincy had become the golden years that need to be etched in history.

Under his captaincy, India has won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 world cup and India was the first country to win the world cup in the T20 format. It didn't stop there, he took the team for more heights and won the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. More importantly, India lifted what it was waiting for 28 years - 2011 ICC Cricket world cup and Dhoni was the captain of India that fulfilled the dreams of many Indians and the World Cup came to India through the Dhoni's winning shot.

Dhoni had put the team in the top position of the global ratings through his calm, stable, and able leadership and captaincy. He took over the Test captaincy in 2008 and he led the Indian team to number one position for the first time in the ICC Test ratings. When we rewind his history, he has left the greatest root and cemented a strong platform for the Indian cricket team and whenever the Indian team attains a feat in the future, Dhoni's effort and reformation would be one of the great reasons why the Men in Blue are shining.

Dhoni's appearance on the field is the moment for the fans to relish and to keep the hope on his shoulder to come back with success. Dhoni's play was the finest hours of the cricket as people on the ground and across the nation would witness the decent and gentle cricket from the legendary batsman. Dhoni has played 350 ODI matches and he has been one of the highest run-scorers in the ODIs with more than 10,000 runs and he has been highly considered as an effective finisher in the limited over formats.

One more important feat Dhoni achieved is he is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all the ICC trophies. He announced his retirement from Tests on 30 December 2014 and in early 2017, he gave up the captaincy of limited-overs formats and nearly six after his retirement from Test cricket, MS Dhoni has, on Saturday- August 15, announced his retirement from the International Cricket.

Dhoni has brought the able-captaincy for the Chennai Super Kings IPL team where he has been the captain of the team for the past 13 seasons and Chennai has become a second home for MS Dhoni, whom the Chennai fans fondly call as 'Thala'. Dhoni's efficacy in the game has been apparently visible on his style of handling and leading the team and his fierce play can be seen whenever the team needs it and when Dhoni was on the field, Indian fans had no worry on winning the game.

With such a perennial love and deep connection with the fans, it's indeed a sad announcement for the fans as Dhoni and his fans will be missing that man in the blue moment on the field. However, he will always be loved and will have a special place as he is leaving behind an irreplaceable place with a great reformation and cool and inspiring memories. On August 14, Dhoni arrived in Chennai for ahead of going to the UAE for the IPL season and he will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

On August 15, he announced his retirement through an Instagram post in which he wrote," Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout. From 19.29 hours, consider me as Retired". The Men in Blue in the future would miss the legend on the field but, with no doubt, his blessings and support will always be there for the Indian team. No 7 of the Indian team won't suit anyone. Thank you for everything, thank you for inspiring millions, thank you for introducing the helicopter shot, thank you for teaching us a true leadership, and thank you for the World Cup!!!..After Dhoni's annoucement, Sachin Tendulkar said, "Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense,@msdhoni. Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life. Wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings."
