In what has become a troubling challenge for a BJP functionary in Tamil Nadu, he has got arrested by the state police after his video, containing derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister, went viral on social media.
According to reports, 32-year-old Boopathy is a resident of Kosavanpalayam in Thirunindravur, a neighborhood of Chennai. He had been serving as a BJP functionary and recently, he has uploaded a video on social media, which caught him in trouble.
Boopathy was in an inebriated state when he uploaded a video on social media. In the video, he used abusive language against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and scheduled caste communities. He went on to challenge the police to arrest him. His video was doing rounds on social media platforms and drew the attention of the police.
On Sunday, the Avadi police arrested Boopathy and remanded him in judicial custody. A case has been registered against Boopathy under sections of the IPC including the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
