TN BJP gets into fresh trouble...How the party faced a big blow through its election ad?

Social media and advertisements play a vital role in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls as they have been reaching millions at the same time about the parties' campaigns and propaganda. On an unprecedented scale, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing scores of advertisements from all the political parties and they have been featuring the party leaders and occupying televisions, social media, and Youtube. Amid the advertisement drive, the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has got a big blow over its absurd use of faces in its advertisement without knowing their background.

The state BJP unit is desperate to water Lotus in Tamil Nadu and in order to promote the party and to seek votes, it has recently published an advertisement with a video clip. It has released the promo on its social media with the caption, "Lotus to bloom. Tamil Nadu to grow. Vote for Lotus". However, BJP's ad promo didn't receive well in the state and it had boomeranged the party with fresh tension and sarcasm as the party's advertisement had featured Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram, who is the daughter-in-law of former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram.

Under the guise of doing something new, the BJP ran into trouble for its daft advertisement without knowing who is being featured. After it came to light that the Central ruling party had used Srinidhi Chidambaram's photo in its advertisement, the ad had gone viral across social media with many castigating and trolling the BJP for using the clip that was originally aired in 2010. As the advertisement ran into trouble, the state BJP unit had removed it from its social media handles.

The advertisement went to the attention of Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram and she was shocked to see that BJP had used her face. Taking to Twitter, Srinidhi had strongly hit out at BJP and said it was ridiculous that the party had used her image for spreading its propaganda. She said, "Ridiculous that the @bjp4india has used my image for their propaganda. தமிழகத்தில் தாமரை என்றும் மலராது". (Lotus will never bloom in Tamil Nadu).

As the BJP braced up a flop, it has given a prospect to the opposition parties to further enhance their voices against the Central ruling party and it was evident in the response from the Congress party. After knowing that the BJP had used Srinidhi's photo, who is the wife of Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, the Congress party has said that the BJP cannot use Mrs. Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram's image without her permission and stated that the BJP has done to prove that its campaign is full of lies.

The Congress party took to Twitter and said, "Dear @BJP4TamilNadu, we understand 'consent' is a difficult concept for you to understand, but you cannot use Mrs. Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram's image without her permission. All you've done is prove that your campaign is full of lies & propaganda."

The BJP has released the advertisement on March 28 and it came to light on Tuesday that the party has used Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram's photo after a journalist had shared the clip on Twitter. Srinidhi replied to her Tweet and said that it was ridiculous that the BJP had used her image. It must be noted that the clip was originally aired in 2010 when Srinidhi had performed Bharatanatyam to the Semmozhi Tamil Anthem song written by DMK's late President M Karunanidhi for the World Tamil Conference held in 2010. The music of the anthem was composed by AR Rahman and the BJP had taken Srinidhi's dance performance clip from that song and made the advertisement for its campaign in Tamil Nadu.
