A TN BJP leader gets arrested under POCSO Act for abusing a 17-year-old girl!

A BJP leader in the Trichy district of Tamil Nadu was apprehended by the police on the charges of abusing and threatening a 17-year-old girl. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been filed against the arrested BJP leader, who is taken into custody.

27-year-old Vinoth is a resident near Malaikottai in Trichy and he was serving as BJP's youth wing secretary of the Trichy district. It has been reported that Vinoth reportedly had an affair with a 17-year-old girl, who resides in the same locality and they both were in touch through social media.

Vinoth went on to give a false promise to the girl that he would marry her. Later, he had sexually harassed her after which, he started to evade from the girl. As he continued to avoid her despite making a promise of marrying her, the girl questioned him.

However, in response, Vinoth had threatened the girl after which she realized that he has made a false promise and abused her. The girl reached out to the Trichy District's Social Welfare Department and lodged a complaint against Vinoth.

The Social Welfare Department then forwarded the girl's complaint to Srirangam police. Based on the complaint, the All Women police officials in Srirangam launched a probe and filed a case against BJP leader Vinoth under various sections including POCSO Act. Following the investigation, the police arrested Vinoth and took him under custody.
