She is also serving as the National President of BJP's Women's wing. Her son Adarsh was driving to Chennai from Coimbatore on Sunday night and when he drove on the butterfly flyover in Kondalampatti in Salem at a high speed, his car lost control and rammed onto the barrier of the flyover. The vehicle was coined upside down and got dragged for few meters.

According to reports, Adarsh had sent his mother Vanathi Srinivasan to Chennai from Coimbatore by train on Sunday night and he had then decided to take a car to reach Chennai. He was driving a Maruti Baleno car and when he reached the butterfly flyover at around 11.30 pm on Sunday, he lost control and met with an accident. After knowing about the accident, the police officials from the Annathanapatti police department had rushed to the spot and rescued Adarsh. Following the inquiry, the police had come to know that Adarsh is the son of BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan.

Adarsh wasn't harmed in the accident and the damaged car was then removed from the flyover and taken to the Annathanapatti police station. After the mishap, Adarsh had dialled his mother and informed her about the accident. Vanathi Srinivasan had then informed the BJP cadres in Salem and asked them to visit the spot. With huge relief, the BJP cadres had then put Adarsh into another car and sent him to Chennai. Vanathi Srinivasan has two sons Adarsh and Kailash. The reports say that Adarsh has been pursuing his higher education in PSG College, Coimbatore and recently, he got elected as the Chairman of the students' union in the college.
