A TN Congress leader killed in accident near Chennai...Here's what happened!

In a shocking piece of news, a Congress leader in Tamil Nadu was killed in accident near Chennai in the late hours of Monday. The Congress leader and two others were hit by a truck and while he died on the spot, two others were injured and are being treated at a government hospital. The police have launched a probe and several Congress leaders in the state are expressing their condolences to the bereaving family.  

The deceased Congress leader was 57-year-old Alavur Nagaraj and he was the president of the Congress party in the Kancheepuram district. Nagaraj had also served as ward councillor of Walajabad and on Monday night, he participated in a public programme and dropped Tamil Nadu Congress president KS Alagiri at his residence.  Nagaraj was then returning to his home in a car with his associates. 

En route to Kancheepuram, Nagaraj and others had stopped at a roadside eatery in Kamarajapuram near Tambaram. When they were having food, a goods carrier rammed on them and killed Nagaraj and injured his two others. According to the police, when they were having dinner at the eatery, three others, who arrived in a goods carrier, had also stopped at the eatery to have food. 

They parked the truck close to the eatery and of those three, one was under the influence of alcohol and he had no experience in driving. However, he embarked on the truck and started the vehicle, only to lose control. The frenzied vehicle went on to hit Nagaraj and others. In this grim mishap, Congress leader Nagaraj had died on the spot while two others, 46-year-old Kumar, the owner of the eatery, and 40-year-old Amavasai, Nagaraj's associate were injured. 

They were taken to the Government Hospital in Chrompet for further treatments.  After recovering the body of the Congress leader, the police have launched a probe. A case with regard to this accident was filed by the Traffic Investigative Wing, Pallikaranai. After the investigation, the police arrested two men on charges of causing death due to negligence. The arrested have been identified as 44-year-old Kishore Peter, the owner and driver of the truck, and 23-year-old Udhaya Selvan, who drove the vehicle at the time of accident.
