Jayam Ravi's latest release, Agilan, directed by Kalyana Krishnan, unfortunately did not receive a warm reception from the audience upon its theatrical release on March 10th, 2023. However, the film's makers having a second chance by debuting on an OTT platform soon, as the new update is that the film to be released on March 31st on Zee5 Tamil.
Agilan marks Jayam Ravi's 28th film and his first release of 2023, with his highly anticipated Ponniyin Selvan 2 set to hit theaters on April. In Agilan, Jayam Ravi portrays the role of a marine engineer, and in dual roles as a father and son. And he is accompanied by the talented actress Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead, marking their first collaboration.The film also the second collaboration with the director after 2015 release of Bhoologam.
The cast of the movie includes Chirag Jani as Inspector S. Gokul Mehta, Hareesh Peradi as Paranthaman, Harish Uthaman as Nallaperumal, Tarun Arora as Kapoor, Madhusudhan Rao as Jananathan, Sai Dheena as Dilli, O. A. K. Sundar and I. S. Rajesh. Sam CS composed the music, and the movie was produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment Private Limited, with the satellite rights bought by Kalaingar TV.
Despite the lukewarm response to Agilan, Jayam Ravi has a busy slate ahead of him. He has already finished filming his next project, Iraivan, with director Ahmed, co-starring the talented Nayanthara, which is currently in the post-production stage and expected to release in theaters later this year.
Additionally, Siren, featuring Keerthy Suresh and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles, is currently in production. And amid these, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Ponniyin Selvan 2, which is set to hit theaters on April 28th, where the makers confirmed that the film's first single will be dropped on March 20th.
