Trending buzz of Ponniyin Selvan's OTT release: Here's when we can expect it!

Ponniyin Selvan 1, the much-awaited movie in Tamil cinema helmed by Mani Ratnam, has garnered a lot of attention from its box office collection. Now, there is a buzz that the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video will be streaming the iconic movie from November 18th. 

The movie, starring Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Raai Bachchan, and Karthi, has grossed over Rs 500 crores and it has already broken all records set by Kamal Hassan's 'Vikram' at the box office. Ponniyin Selvan comes with two parts and the first part has got released on September 30 and it was huge blockbuster with a positive word of mouth. 

As per strong speculations, Mani Ratnam's magnum opus is getting ready for an OTT release on November 18 and the OTT rights of the movie have been sold for Amazon Prime at the price of whopping Rs 125 crores and that include both parts of the movie. On October 25, Ponniyin Selvan has hit its 25th successful day and sharing the news, the makers, Lyca Productions wrote, "Let's double the celebration as #PS1 reaches its 25th Day in theatres on this auspicious day of Diwali. PS1 holding strong at the cinemas near you!" 

The movie revolves around the Chola dynasty that was prominent in Thanjavur during the tenth century. The protagonist of the tale is Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), also known as Ponniyin Selvan, who was the brother of Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) and the movie is based on the king's life and the events that surrounded him. 

A. R. Rahman composed the musical score, and Ravi Varman, A. Sreekar Prasad, and Thota Tharani handled the cinematography, editing, and production design respectively. The budget of this magnum opus is a whopping Rs 500 crores. Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. 

It has been expected that the second part will hit the screens during the summer of 2023. From Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Sarathkumar to Parthiban, the movie has a galaxy of stars playing important roles.
