The film will feature Bollywood filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap and actor Shanmuga Pandian, son of veteran star Vijayakanth, in pivotal roles according to sources, and Sasikumar has been working on the script and pre-production of the film for a while and is planning to make an official announcement soon.

The film is hinted to be a period piece set in a rural area of Tamil Nadu and will focus on the region's unique culture and way of life in the visionary director's style. In addition to directing, sources claim that Sasikumar will also play a pivotal role in the film.

Kashyap, known for his gritty and realistic films in Hindi cinema, was impressed by Sasikumar’s story and agreed to play the lead role. If this alliance came to be true, this will be the legendary actor-director's second debut in Tamil after he played in Imaikka Nodigal, which was released in 2018 and starred Nayanthara.

It's worth noting that in an interview earlier, Kashyap said it was ‘Subramaniapuram’ that inspired him to make ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, and he also raved about the film on social media occasioning its 10-year anniversary, he said, "the classic that inspired me and now you are an Actor .."

Shanmuga Pandian, who was earlier supposed to act in Sasikumar’s web series adaptation of the novel Kuttra Parambarai, has also joined the cast in a key role. The film is expected to go on floors in June and be released in 2024. The film will be produced by Sasikumar’s own banner Company Productions.

The music and cinematography of the film are yet to be finalized. Sasikumar was last seen in Ayothi, a film directed by Manthira Moorthy that dealt with the theme of humanity. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
