The fans are in for a treat as the star is all set to play a dual role in his upcoming film ‘Thalapathy 68’, directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film, which is produced by AGS Entertainment and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is expected to be a multi-starrer with a huge ensemble cast.

According to a film insider's source, Thalapathy Vijay will be seen in a very young avatar in one of the roles in the film, while the other role will be a mature and stylish one. The film will have two avatars which will showcase the contrast between the two characters of Vijay.

The film has already completed its first schedule in Chennai, where a friendship folk song was shot with Thalapathy Vijay, Prabhu Deva, Prasanth and Ajmal. The talkie portions are to be filmed till this weekend, after which the team will be moving abroad for the next schedule. Mic Mohan is said to be the antagonist of the film, who will have a face-off with Vijay in both roles, the source adds.

‘Thalapathy 68’ is slated to release in 2024, after Vijay’s next film ‘Leo’. The title, cast and crew of ‘Thalapathy 68’ are expected to be announced soon by the makers. The cinematography of the film is handled by Siddhartha Nuni, who has worked on films like Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and Captain Miller.

The film’s music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has teamed up with Venkat Prabhu as he is a frequent collaborator and known for the duo's popular hits in the past. The film is expected to have some chartbuster songs and background scores that will elevate the mass appeal. The film’s cast is yet to be finalized, but Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sneha, Madhavan, Prashanth, and Prabhu Deva have been reportedly approached to play important roles.

‘Thalapathy 68’ was officially announced on May 21, 2023. The film has created a lot of buzz among the fans and the trade circles, as it promises to be a grand spectacle that will showcase Vijay’s versatility after the pure actioner Leo release, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj which is coming to theatres this October 19th.
