The National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh is all set to make her Bollywood debut with a bang. She has been roped in as the leading lady in Varun Dhawan-Atlee’s next action entertainer, which is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Theri.

Theri, directed by Atlee, starred Thalapathy Vijay as a cop-turned-vigilante who seeks revenge for his wife’s murder. The film also featured Samantha and Amy Jackson as the female leads. Keerthy will be reprising Samantha’s role of a doctor who falls in love with Vijay’s character. The Theri remake is one of the most awaited projects in Bollywood, as it brings together two young and dynamic stars from different industries.

This is the first time that Keerthy and Varun will share the screen space together. Varun, who is known for his versatile performances and dance skills, will be playing the role of a dashing and daring cop who goes undercover to protect his daughter from his enemies.

The film will be co-produced by Atlee and Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani. It will be directed by Kalees, who made his debut with the sci-fi thriller Kee in 2019. The film is expected to go on floors next month and release in May 2024.

Keerthy Suresh is one of the most popular and talented actresses in South India. She has acted in several hit films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. She won the National Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of legendary actress Savitri in Mahanati (2018). She was last seen in Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Maamannan, which released this year.

Atlee, on the other hand, is one of the most successful directors in Tamil cinema. He has delivered three consecutive blockbusters with Vijay - Theri, Mersal and Bigil. He is currently busy with his Bollywood debut Jawan, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. The film is slated to hit the screens on September 7th this year.
