AL Vijay, the director of acclaimed films like Deiva Thirumagal and Thalaivaa, is back with a new project. The film, which is yet to be titled, will feature Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles. The film is produced by Trident Arts and has Niravsha as the cinematographer. The film’s pooja ceremony was held recently and a picture from the event is circulating on social media.
Madhavan, who made his directorial debut with Rocketry last year, which made a good response from fans and critics. Kangana Ranaut who also seen in AL Vijay.'s biopic on former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, titled Thalaivi.
The duo Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut is no new to fans, as they rocked screen in Tanu Weds Manu. directed by Aanand L. Rai. The movie was released in 2011. She also lastly seen in Chandramukhi 2, directed by P. Vasu.
The new film is expected to be a romantic drama with a twist. The details of the film’s cast and crew are yet to be revealed. The film is likely to go on floors soon and will be shot in various locations. Interstingly, Superstar Rajinikanth paid a visit in pooja launch with his upcoming Thalaivar 170 look.
Meanwhile, Madhavan portrays the character of Rati Pandey, who is the General Manager of the Central Railways in the four-episode Netflix series titled "The Railway Men". The series is inspired by true events and revolves around the railway workers who bravely risk their lives to save others following a devastating gas leak in Bhopal. Directed by Shiv Rawali, the series is a Hindi-language drama. The first episode premiered on November 18, 2023.
