The big star's next big movie, tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, which will be directed by blockbuster filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, has generated a lot of buzz as well as preparations for the upcoming family comedy Varisu. Mansoor Ali Khan, a veteran Tamil actor, confirmed that he will also be a part of Thalapathy 67. After a formal pooja was already performed for the upcoming movie starring Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj earlier this month, the film's updates never misses its sensational place to turn heads.

While attending the award ceremony of popular media house, the 61 year old actor said, "I played the role of the villain in Thalapathy's debut film (Naalaiya Theerpu - 1992) and we have worked together in nearly 10 films. I wasn't able to act with him over the years, but I'm happy to be reuniting with him in his next film."

Chakku Chakku Othikichu, originally performed by Mansoor Ali Khan, became a fan favourite after appearing as Kamal's ringtone in the Lokesh Kanagaraj film Vikram. Lokesh Kanagaraj has stated in later interviews that he is a huge fan of Mansoor Ali Khan and has promised to cast him in his next film if the right role becomes available.

After 15 years since their last on-screen collaboration in films like Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), and Kuruvi (2007), leading South Indian actress Trisha to be a part of the project. But in an recent interview, when asked about her role in Thalapathy67, she said, "Some of the things I'm not talking about now are because this isn't my place to speak. Only a director should speak then."

Aside from Vijay and Mansoor, rumours have it that a slew of other stars, including Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Nivin Pauly, Gautham Menon, and many more, will feature prominently in the film as well. As soon as Varisu hits theatres, we can expect a deluge of updates about the film. The film Varisu, starring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna, is scheduled for release on January 12, 2023.
