Superstar Rajinikanth, who is riding high on the success of his latest film Jailer, has met Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan in Ranchi on Monday. The actor, who had returned from his spiritual trip to the Himalayas, paid a courtesy visit to his friend and former BJP leader at the Raj Bhavan. The meeting has sparked speculations about Rajinikanth’s political plans, as he had earlier announced his decision to stay away from politics due to health reasons.

According to sources, Rajinikanth and Radhakrishnan had a cordial conversation for about an hour, during which they discussed various issues of national and regional importance. Rajinikanth also gifted a spiritual book to the governor, who welcomed him to the “great land of Jharkhand”. 

The governor later took to Twitter to share some pictures from their meeting and expressed his happiness over meeting his “dear friend”, writing, "On his arrival in Ranchi , delighted and very happy to meet my dear friend , one of India's greatest Actors and great Human Being Superstar Shri. @rajinikanth Ji at Raj Bhavan yesterday on a courtesy meet. I heartily welcome him to the great land of Jharkhand."

Rajinikanth had left for the Himalayas before the release of Jailer, which has become a blockbuster hit across the country. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has collected over Rs 450 crore worldwide in a week, becoming the fastest Tamil film in history to cross Rs 150 crore in Tamil Nadu . The film also features cameos from Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. Rajinikanth had visited several temples and shrines in the Himalayan range, including Badrinath and Kedarnath, along with his friends.

After returning from the Himalayas, Rajinikanth had arrived in Ranchi on August 16. He had also visited the Rajrappa Temple in Ramgarh district, where he offered prayers to Goddess Chinnamasta. The actor was greeted by his fans and the media at various places during his tour. He is expected to return to Chennai soon, where he will resume shooting for his next film with TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame. The film is said to be a sci-fi thriller with a social message.
