Dhruv Vikram, who made his debut with Adithya Varma in 2019, has been preparing for the role of a kabaddi player for a while now. As per reports, the young star is all set to play the role of a kabaddi player in his next film, which will be directed by Mari Selvaraj.

The film is a biopic of Manathi Ganesan, a former kabaddi player from Tamil Nadu who won the Arjuna award in 1995 for his outstanding contribution to the sport. Manathi Ganesan is also a close relative of Mari Selvaraj, who has expressed his desire to feature his story on the big screen. When he disclosed the film, the director stated, "He is an Arjuna Awardee and a very close relative. I always wanted to feature his story."

Dhruv Vikram’s biopic of Manathi Ganesan is one of the most anticipated films in Tamil cinema, as it will showcase the life and achievements of a lesser-known sports personality who brought laurels to the state and the country.

The yet-to-be-titled film is said to be produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions, which has backed several critically acclaimed films such as Pariyerum Perumal, Kaala and Karnan. As per reports, the film is expected to start rolling in August, after Mari Selvaraj wraps up his current project Maamannan.

Maamannan is a political thriller starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh, Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead roles. The film marks Udhayanidhi’s last outing as an actor, as he has decided to focus on his political career after becoming the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu.
