If you are a fan of crime thrillers, you might want to mark your calendar for August 4. That’s when the much-awaited Tamil film Por Thozhil will make its digital debut on Sony Liv. The film, which stars R. Sarathkumar, Ashok Selvan and Nikhila Vimal in the lead roles, is a gripping tale of two cops who are on the hunt for a serial killer.
Por Thozhil, which means Art of War, is inspired by the poem of the same name by Subramania Bharati. The film is directed by Vignesh Raja, who makes his debut with this project. The film was released in theatres on June 9 and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. It also had a successful run at the box office, collecting more than Rs 50 crore worldwide.
The film revolves around a rookie cop (Ashok Selvan) who teams up with a veteran lawman (R. Sarathkumar) to solve a series of murders that have shaken the town. The first victim is found in the woods, strangled to death and placed in a kneeling position. There are no signs of assault or robbery. As the duo digs deeper into the case, they discover that the killer has a twisted motive and a complex modus operandi.
The film has been praised for its engaging screenplay, realistic characters, stunning cinematography and thrilling music. The performances of the lead actors have also been lauded, especially R. Sarathkumar, who plays a classy and intimidating senior officer.
Nizhalgal Ravi, Sarath Babu, P. L. Thenappan, O. A. K. Sundar, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Sunil Sukhada, and Harish Kumar also played the pivotal roles. The movie's music, composed by Jakes Bejoy, adds an extra layer of intensity and intrigue to the narrative, while Kalaiselvan Sivaji and Sreejith Sarang handle the cinematography and editing, respectively.
