Trending Update: Karthik Subburaj’s Jigarthanda Double X to release its first single on this date!

The wait is over for the fans of Karthik Subburaj, the acclaimed director of films like Pizza, Jigarthanda and Petta. He has announced the release date of the first single from his upcoming film Jigarthanda Double X, a sequel to his 2014 cult classic Jigarthanda. The song, titled Maamadura, will be out on October 9th at 12.12 PM, just in time for the festive season. 

Karthik Subburaj shared the exciting news on his social media platform X, where he revealed the poster of the song, featuring a retro thematic vintage poster. He wrote, “Almost time to dance to the first single from #JigarthandaDoubleX  #Maamadura releasing on 9th October, at 12.12 PM. A @Music_Santhosh blast  #APandyaaWestern story, in theatres Diwali 2023.”

Maamadura is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, who has collaborated with Karthik Subburaj in all his films so far. The song is expected to be a peppy and energetic number that will showcase the rustic charm of Madurai, where the film is set.

The film is a Western-style gangster drama that follows the exploits of a ruthless don in 80s who rules over Madurai, and SJ Suryah, a filmmaker who tries to make a movie based on his life, going by the trailer. Jigarthanda Double X is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as it marks the return of Karthik Subburaj to his signature style of filmmaking after directing Rajinikanth in Petta.

The film also features Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu, and  Bava Chelladurai in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on Diwali 2023.

The fans of Karthik Subburaj are eagerly waiting for the release of Maamadura, hoping that it will be another chartbuster from the director-composer duo. The song will be available on all streaming platforms and YouTube from October 9th onwards.
