The comedy king of Tamil cinema, Vadivelu, and the versatile star of Malayalam cinema, Fahadh Faasil, are all set to collaborate once again in their upcoming film, directed by Sudheesh Sankar. The untitled film, which is produced by RB Choudary, will mark the second collaboration of the two actors, who had earlier shared screen space in the political drama Maamannan, directed by Mari Selvaraj, which was released last year.

The film, which is written by V Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as the creative director, is a road movie that revolves around two contrasting characters — a young man and an old man, who embark on a journey from Nagercoil to Pollachi, passing through various towns and cities of Tamil Nadu. The film will start off as a comedy and then turn into a thriller, and address a social issue, according to the director.

Sudheesh Sankar, who had previously helmed Tamil film Aarumaname (2009), says that he had written the lead roles with Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil in mind, and he is happy that they agreed to be part of the film. He says, “Even when Krishna Moorthy was writing the script, he had written the lead characters with Vadivelu and Fahadh in mind, and we are glad to have them on board. Both the actors were very excited to team up again after Maamannan.”

The film also features actress Sithara, who will play the role of Vadivelu’s wife. The music for the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, who shot Por Thozhil. The editing is done by Sreejith Sarang, who is known for his work in Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru. The film is expected to go on floors on January 22, in Chennai, and will be shot in various locations across Tamil Nadu. The film is slated to release later this year.
