Suriya, is all set to take on a new challenge in his career. The actor, who is known for his versatile roles and mass appeal, is reportedly locking down a biggie to expand his range of films. The film is said to be based on the epic Mahabharata and will be directed by none other than Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the acclaimed filmmaker of ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Bhaag Milka Bhaag’.

Recently Suriya met Director Rakeysh Omprakash to discuss the development of the script, as the picture of both of them going viral on social media. The film, titled ‘Karna’, will be a historical drama that will explore the life and struggles of the legendary warrior Karna, who was born as a prince but was abandoned by his father and raised by a charioteer.

Suriya will play the titular role of Karna, while Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will helm the project. The film will also feature some of the biggest names from Bollywood, but not yet the names are revealed. The film is expected to be a grand spectacle and have some spectacular action sequences and visual effects that will make it stand out from other films in the genre.

The film is said to be made in two parts with a massive budget The first part is likely to go on floors in 2024 and release in 2025. The second part is expected to follow suit and release in 2026.  Suriya has been working hard on his fitness and preparation for the film.

He has been undergoing rigorous training and dieting and he has also been learning some martial arts evidencing for this film. The actor is also awaiting for his next epic release Kanguva, and he is also having projects, Vaadivaasal, and Suriya 43 with Sudha Kongra.
