In the midst of the political friction surrounding the Erode East byelection, and notably after Naam Tamilar Katchi's (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman filed for allegations of insulting members of the Scheduled Caste community, the next boiling breach has erupted as two NTK cadre were arrested for inciting violence at Veerappanchatiram on Wednesday night.

When the cadre started the campaign from the Surampatti Nalrod area under the Erode East constituency. In this case, a dispute arose between the DMK and NTK  in the Veerappanchatiram  area. Both sides attacked each other. People from both sides were also injured in the attack. When NTK chief coordinator Seeman and party candidate Menaka Navaneethan, accompanied by cadre, were on their way to Veerappanchatiram for their scheduled speech, the incident occured, the police said.

"The police quickly intervened and ensured the situation wouldn't escalate. We've deployed CRPF teams in the area," said Sasi Mohan, the Superintendent of Police in Erode. "Four  injured persons belong to the DMK and the other four are from the NTK. We are investigating," the police official added. Currently, two individuals named Vijay and Ganeshbabu from the Naam Tamil Party have been arrested in connection with the incident that happened in the Erode Chatram area today.

Following this, Seeman met the reporters and said, "After requesting votes in an orderly manner, we approached in silence. I have no idea why they attacked. They stack stones on the ground and then throw them. As a result, six or seven members of our party sustained fractured skulls. They also damaged the vehicle. You have already handed rocks and logs. What evolves if I bring logs and sticks and beat them back too? Will you handle the government in this manner? Then why should there be elections?" he spoke in discontent.

Meanwhile it's noteworthy to add that Karungalpalayam police have recently opened an investigation into allegations that Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman insulted members of the Scheduled Caste community. The allegations were made in response to complaints that he made offensive remarks about members of the Arunthathiyar community while campaigning for the election on February 13 at Thirunagar Colony, which is located within the Erode (East) Assembly constituency.
