Udhayanidhi Stalin is a prominent investor and distributor in Kollywood. His production and distribution company, Red Giant Movies, has brought "Indian 2" back to life. Udhayanidhi announced his retirement from acting after the upcoming Tamil film Maamannan on the 14th of December, the same day he took office as Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports.

A minister who has taken the oath of office cannot be an employee, shareholder, or owner of another company, per the Representation of the People Act. Thus by Red Giant has reportedly decided to stop using Udhayanidhi Stalin's name in any future publications. Udhayanidhi Stalin got his start in the film industry with Vijay's "Kuruvi," and he has since produced a number of other films. His first leading role was in Rajesh's film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi,

All future Red Giant Entertainment film releases will now be credited to  the name of his wife and the company's Deputy Director, Kiruthika Udhayanidhi Stalin, rather than using Udhayanidhi Stalin name.  The name change is expected to take place soon, according to reports. Some sources says that  Udhayindhi will be responsible for keeping an eye on things at Red Giant Movies, but he won't be involved with the company's day-to-day operations. Reports indicate that, as minister and MLA, he will now devote his full attention to serving the people and helping to strengthen the party.

The banner has just recently disseminated "Ponniyin Selvan I," Mani Ratnam's magnum opus. The distribution company scored big in 2022 with hits like Dhanush's "Thiruchitrabalam" and "Love Today." Moreover, Red Giant Movies will be distributing both Thalapathy Vijay's "Vaarisu" and Ajith's "Thunivu" for the upcoming Pongal holiday. In 2024, the studio will also produce Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's film.
