Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is hospitalized at AIIMS, Delhi: How is she doing now?

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been hospitalized at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. She was admitted to a private ward of AIIMS on Monday - December 26 at around 12 pm. It has been reported that the 63-year-old minister has been getting treated for a minor stomach infection and would be undergoing routine health checkup. 

According to ANI, Nirmala Sitharaman would be getting discharged soon and that her condition is stable and she has been receiving the best medical care from the doctors. Her hospitalization has come amid her bustling work schedule of preparing the Union Budget for the forthcoming year. Nirmala Sitharaman will be presenting the budget on February 1, 2023. 

After learning about her hospitalization, several central ministers and BJP leaders have been extending their wishes to her for a speedy recovery. Speaking about the budget, the finance minister last Friday said that her forthcoming budget will continue to push growth on the back of public spending and added that it will follow the spirit of earlier budgets. 

On Saturday, Nirmala Sitharaman was in Chennai, Tamil Nadu where she attended the 35th annual convocation of the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University in Chennai. While addressing the event, she said that India is recognized as the pharmacy of the world as the country produces global standard medicine at affordable cost.  

Last week, she said that the government is keeping a close watch on inflation to ensure that there is no surge in prices. Nirmala Sitharaman also expressed confidence that India would get succeeded in handling inflation better as the country has been following a good framework to address the pressures from supply sides on food prices.
