Veteran Bollywood actors are hospitalized...How are they doing now?

Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar, who was active in the industry for over five decades, has been hospitalized in Mumbai. He is 98 and has been battling age-related ailments. After learning about the news of his hospitalization, the ardent fans and fraternities are praying for the speedy recovery of the legendary actors. The news of his hospitalization had come on Wednesday. 

However, it has been reported that Dilip Kumar was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. The actor's family friend Faisal Farooqui said that Dilip Kumar was admitted to Hinduja hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after he complained of breathing issues. According to PTI, Dilip Kumar has been getting treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but he is doing stable. 

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Farooqui wrote from Dilip's official handle, "Dilip Saab has been admitted to Hinduja Hospital, Khar to address medical issues related to illness which are frequently expected in a 98-year-old. Your love and prayers are truly appreciated by Saab- Faisal Farooqui". The current hospitalization is the second one for Dilip Kumar within a month.

The veteran actor who is active from 1944 to 1998 has been suffering from breathing problems and he was admitted to the Hinduja hospital on June 6 and he was later discharged on June 11. During his hospitalization, he was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion- which is the build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs. 

A hospital official told PTI, "Dilip Kumar was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday due to breathlessness. Given his age and recent hospitalization, the family had decided to take him to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The actor is doing fine and he is in the ICU so that the doctors can monitor him". The veteran actor is popularly known for his roles in several blockbuster films including Jogan, Babul, Azaad, Tarana, Daag, Devdas, and Mughal-e-Azam. He was last seen on the big screens in 'Qila' that was released in 1998. 

Meanwhile, besides Dilip Kumar, popular Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah was also hospitalized for pneumonia in Mumbai. He has been admitted to the hospital for two days and a patch was found in the actor's lungs and he is recovering now. He is also admitted to Hinduja hospital where Dilip Kumar is getting treated. Shah's manager has on Wednesday confirmed that the actor is stable and responding well to the treatment. 

In his statement, Shah's manager said, "He has been in the hospital for two days. He is under medical supervision and he was brought in for Pneumonia. There was a patch found in his lungs and it became necessary for him to be hospitalized immediately. His condition is stable and he is responding well to the treatment." It has been expected that 70-year-old Shah would be getting discharged from the hospital on Thursday. 

Actor Anupam Kher, whose relationship with Shah took a minor rift after the latter called the former as a 'clown', took to Twitter and wished Shah a speedy recovery. Kher wrote, "Sir Naseeruddin Shah Sahib!! Pneumonia is seeking importance so it has decided to stick with you for a couple of days. Give it a quick shake-off and get well!! Looking forward to working with you for a long time. Take care of yourself! Prayers for your good health."
