Viral: Jigarthanda DoubleX to premiere at this International Film Festival

Jigarthanda DoubleX, the prequel to the cult classic Jigarthanda (2014) by director Karthik Subbaraj which starred Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in the lead. The duo embarked on a adventure that was released worldwide on 10th November 2023, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

It was praised for its gripping storyline, brilliant performances from the lead. The film also paid homage to the golden era of Tamil cinema, with references to legendary actors, directors, and films. Now, the film has achieved another feat.

It has been officially selected for the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), which will be held from January 25 to February 4, 2024. The film will have its Dutch premiere at the festival, under the Limelight category. This category showcases films that are expected to have a significant impact on the international film culture.

Director Karthik Subbaraj expressed his happiness and excitement took to X, saying, “Very Happy and Excited to share that our #JigarthandaDoubleX is officially selected at and will have its Dutch Premiere at the prestigious @IFFR - Rotterdam Film Festival under the Limelight Category.”

Jigarthanda Double X follows the story of another aspiring filmmaker who wants to make a movie with a real-life gangster. Produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, S. Kathiresan, and Alankar Pandian under Stone Bench Films, Five Star Creations, and Invenio Origin respectively.

The film's creative team, including composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Tirru, and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali, promises a visual and auditory treat for the audience. The stellar cast, featuring Raghava Lawrence as the aspiring gangster Pandiyan and SJ Suryah as the ambitious director Ray Dasan, has garnered praise for their compelling performances. Nimisha Sajayan, Naveen Chandra, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu, and Bava Chelladurai contribute to the film's rich ensemble.
