Kollywood leading actress Trisha Krishnan featuring as princess Kundhavai is the epitome of beauty in the new BTS picture from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan. In the leaked picture doing the rounds on the internet, Trisha is dressed up as her character, Ilaya Pirati Kundhavai in the iconic flick.

Fans were quick enough to put the photo on virality on social media. The actress is next to see on Brindha, which is her first debut in web series, and The Road, helmed by Arun Vaseegaran. Ponniyin Selvan is a magnum opus from Mani Ratnam with two parts. While the first part hit the screens on September 30 and grossed over 500 crores, the makers are busy to bake the second part, which will be getting released in April 2023.

Ponniyin Selvan has brought an ensemble cast and Trisha features as princess of the Chola Dynasty. Arulmozhi Varman, played by Jayam Ravi, was one of the most powerful kings in the south, and this book tells the story of his rise to power and eventual ascension to the throne as Rajaraja Chola I. Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies and Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions are bankrolling the humongous project of Ponniyin Selvan.

While the second part is months ahead of its release, a newly leaked picture was nothing but increased the anticipation among fans. The photo showed Trisha taking the steps in a red silk saree, bearing all smiles in her face. She is wearing heavy golden jewellery-- necklaces, bangles, earrings, maang tikaa and other ornaments, and she also surrounded by few co-star members of the film crew.

Mani Ratnam and Elango Kumaravel wrote the film's screenplay together. The film's dialogue was penned by B Jeyamohan. Oscar-winning composer and regular collaborator with Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman has composed the score for the film. The film's cinematographer is Ravi Varman. A slew of other actors, including Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi make their appearances in the film. The movie was inspired by Kalki Krishnamurthy's Ponniyin Selvan, a novel published in 1955.
