Viral: "Something special" Ponniyin Selvan makers shares a hinting surprise update!

Although nearly three months have passed since the release of Kollywood's monumental epic, Ponniyin Selvan 1, the fever Maniratnam left for fans through the grand Chola tale is still keeping the craze. While Lyca Productions, the production house behind this historical periodical drama releases an intriguing poster on social media, and fans were raining comments with guesses.

Ponniyin Selvan, a renowned historical fiction novel by the late author Kalki, was adapted into a film by Mani Ratnam after years of dedication. This film featured an impressive cast, including Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai, Jayamravi, and Jayaram. The musical score was written by AR Rahman. The first half of the Ponniyin Selvan duology has just been released, and it has already become a critical and commercial success.

The film team has released a poster announcing that the new update of 'Ponniyin Selvan' will be released tomorrow at 4 pm. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday evening, "Something special is on the horizon. Can you guess what?" Fans are commenting that this will be an announcement for the second part of 'Ponniyin Selvan'.

The book tells the story of Arulmozhivarman's early years and chronicles his life before he attained power as Rajaraja Chola I (947–1014). Ponniyin Selvan bankrolled by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan' first part released on 30th September 2022, while the second part is expected to arrive in April 2023.

According to sources, Ponniyin Selvan 1 reportedly garnered of total 501.85 Crores, with the Tamil Nadu collection said to be 230 Crores while the collection from the rest of India stands at 31 crores and the overseas collection is said to be 166 crores. Ponniyin Selvan 1 was written by Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan, while Ravi Varman shot the movie, A.
