In what has become a piece of good news for the job seekers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Tuesday - June 14 ordered a mega recruitment plan with the aim of recruiting ten lakh people in eighteen months to the government. His order has been going viral as it has highly been disseminated by the BJP leaders and the party.

The Prime Minister's Office has on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed various government departments and ministries to undertake the recruitment of ten lakh people on a 'mission mode' in the next eighteen months. The direction from the Prime Minister has come after a review of the status of human resources in all government departments and ministries.

Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister's office wrote, "PM Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that the recruitment of ten lakh people be done by the government in a mission mode in next 1.5 years." The order from the Prime Minister has come in the midst of accusations levelled by the opposition over the lack of creation of more job opportunities.

Earlier this year, the Union government informed the Parliament that there were 8.72 lakh vacancies are available in Central government departments as of March 1, 2020. It has been reported that the government has over 40 lakh sanctioned, but less than 32 lakh employees are in place. According to reports, the maximum vacancies are in the important ministries like Posts, Defence (Civil), Railways and Revenue. The official list of vacancy posts and recruitment announcements are expected to get released in the coming days.

As several posts are left vacant for several months, the Prime Minister has directed his administration to recruit 10 lakh people in 18 months. Several leaders and Union Ministers have welcomed Modi's announcement of mega recruitment, which has come at a high time when the BJP has been planning to launch the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in two months.

Following Modi's announcement, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs said, "In line with instructions of PM Narendra Modi to carry out 10 lakh recruitments in all GoI Depts & Ministries over a period of 1.5 years, Ministry of Home Affairs has initiated steps to fill up vacancies in Mission Mode." It must be noted that against 10.8 lakh sanctioned posts in the Union Home Ministry, about 1.3 lakh posts are vacant.
