In a surprising twist, the ace director SS Rajamouli has been roped in for a special cameo role in Rebel Star Prabhas’ upcoming sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898AD’ aka ‘Project K’. The film, which is being directed by Nag Ashwin, is touted to be one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema history.
According to sources, Rajamouli will be seen as a scientist who helps Prabhas’ character in his quest to save the world from a looming threat. The director has already shot his portions in Hyderabad and will be seen sharing screen space with Prabhas, Kamal Hassan and Amitabh Bachchan, who plays the special and impactful role.
Rajamouli and Prabhas share a close bond as they have worked together in the blockbuster ‘Baahubali’ franchise, which catapulted Prabhas to global fame. Rajamouli has garnered millions of eyes as his prestigious film RRR went inside the Oscar home earlier this year.
‘Kalki 2898AD’ is a futuristic thriller that revolves around the concept of time travel and parallel universes. The film also features Deepika Padukone as the female lead and has music by Santhosh Narayan. The film is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and is expected to release in multiple languages in 2024.
