Viral story: How TN Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan helped a Chennai family reunite with the lost dog?

After six weeks of search, a family in Chennai has been reunited with its lost dog, thanks to Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan who helped in the reunion. The dog's homecoming was made possible through social media where the minister himself had tweeted about it. The incident has become the talk of the town and it also has thrown more light on the finance minister's love for dogs.

According to reports, a dog named Ruby was missing for over a month. It was separated from the family and the family members had later advertised the search with the dog's information and the reward for those who find her whereabouts. On March 15, the dog's owner Deepu Jain has tweeted that her dog has been missing since February 14.

In a tweet to Palanivel Thiagarajan, Deepu Jain said, "Sir, please help me in finding my Pet Ruby. She is missing since 14th Feb because of the negligence of Dogs Kingdom OMR road where I dropped her for boarding. We r (sic) not getting any help, Zomato person has taken her but we couldn't trace the bike (number). Please help (sic)."

In her tweet, Jain has shared the photo of her dog and she even said that her dog will react when she is called 'Ruby Baby'. Palanivel Thiagarajan has come to know about the missing dog through some animal-rights activists, who had got involved and coordinated an operation to locate the dog. The resident editor of The New Indian Express has also informed the minister and later, the latter has also got in touch with the Tambaram police commissioner.

The reports say that search was on for the dog following the minister's intervention and all food delivery executives in the area were brought under the scanner as Jain has reported that the dog was taken by a person attached to Zomato. After realizing that the police have come to the front to find the dog, the person who took it has finally returned Ruby to her home.

After confirming that the dog has been reunited with Deepu Jain's family, Palanivel Thiagarajan said that a minister's focus must be on policy and execution. But humanity comes first. Taking to Twitter, the minister shared a video of the dog enjoying with the family and wrote on Saturday, "A miracle: Ruby is back with Deepu Jain's family today after an ordeal that took her all the way to Mayiladhuthurai. (300 km from Chennai. A minister's focus must be policy and execution. But humanity comes first." The minister further thanked everyone involved including Tambaram police commissioner M Ravi IPS.
