Following the success of his previous two films, Maanaadu and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, actor Silambarasan has returned to the movie business in a big way. Due to the massive success of the sci-fi thriller Maanaadu directed by Venkat Prabhu, Silambarasan is once again in the pilot's seat. The actor to be seen in his next feature, Pathu Thala, helmed by Obeli Krishna.

Maanaadu, which is first-of-its-kind movie in Tamil cinema, has marked one year since its release on Friday- November 25, 2022. Celebrating the milestone and perhaps a significant breakthrough for the crew, the movie team is relishing the success after encountering several setbacks. The movie team has shared a video on social media where it recapped the events connected to the movie during its making and release.

Suresh Kamatchi, who produced Maanaadu, took to Twitter on Friday and shared the video. He wrote, "#1YrofMegaBBMaanaadu." While the fans celebrate the feat, what has surprised them more is a big hint that the movie team left in the video. The video which runs for over two minutes ends by saying "Loop continues soon." Quoting the same, the sources say that it is confirmed that Maanaadu is going to get a sequel.

Movie fans are excited about the hint, and they can't wait to hear that "Maanaadu 2" is coming out. Many reports named it one of the best Tamil films of 2021, praising its imaginative use of the time-loop concept alongside more traditional commercial elements. The plot revolves around the time loop trope in which two protagonists are stuck reliving the same day over and over again due to an unfortunate event.

While Simbu, SJ Suryah, and Kalyani Priyadarshan play the lead roles, Y. G. Mahendran, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, and Anjena Kirti play crucial roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music, Richard M. Nathan was in charge of the film's cinematography, and Praveen K. L. was in charge of the film's editing, which is his 100th film.

The film was produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions. SonyLIV purchased the rights to the film, and on December 24, 2021—just four weeks after its theatrical release—Maanaadu started streaming on OTT. Maanaadu was made with the budget of Rs 26 crore and it has earned Rs 117 crore at the box office.
