Viral story: This popular Tamil movie to get a sequel eight years after its release!

The Kollywood town will be getting more of the gangster world of Madurai through  Karthik Subbaraj's benchmark feature, 'Jigarthanda'. The maker surprised his fans with a sudden tweet on the social media platform on Monday - August 1, 2022.  

The first part of Jigarthanda was released in 2014 and the announcement about its sequel has come eight years after its release. The first film won two National Film Awards and was remade in Kannada. The first part had Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Vijay Sethupathi, and Karunakaran playing important roles and the movie has revolved around a cold-blooded gangster Sethu and an aspiring filmmaker Karthik. 

The film uniquely inspired the audience with a concept of, how a filmmaker masters a film out of gangster life. On a surprise note, The 2014 action comedy Jigarthanda sequel is in the works, confirms director Karthik Subbaraj, who shared about the sequel on Monday on the eighth anniversary of the film's first part. Taking to Twitter, Karthik announced the sequel through a hooking video of making the trademark snack, 'Jigarthanda', where the video bore the caption, “It’s been 8 years since you tasted ‘Jigarthanda’. Now it’s time for…” 

Karthik debuted his film journey with 'Pizza', and made critically acclaimed features like, 'Iraivi', 'Mercury', 'Petta', and lastly released 'Mahaan' starred Vikram and Bobby Simha, and Simran. Currently, Karthik Subbaraj is penning for Shankar's, tentatively titled, 'RC15' film, starred by Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and Anjali.
