After a five-year hiatus, Vaigaipuyal Vadivelu is returning to theatres in a film titled after one of his famous on-screen personae, Naai Sekar. To honour his return, the film is titled "Naai Sekar Returns." Vadivelu is the star of the movie helmed by Suraj, and it's gotten a lot of buzz and high expectations.

The movie's recently-released first-single 'Appatha', which featured Vadivelu on vocals and was choreographed by Prabhu Deva, surprised the movie-buffs and immediately won the hearts of his millions of fans. Now, the fresh and happy news for movie fans is that the movie is getting baked for the release. Naai Sekar Returns is produced by Lyca Productions.

On Friday, the production house took to Twitter and shared a brief motion poster to announce the movie's release. Lyca Productions wrote, "Mark your calendars & get ready for a fun ride. Naai Sekar Returns releasing on Dec 9." In the motion poster, the legendary comedy king was depicted in a groovy and cool avatar sitting on a couch and lording it over a pack of dogs.

It's clear from the previews and the film's name that dogs play a significant role in the story alongside Vadivelu. While Vadivelu plays the lead role, this comedy-drama stars Rao Ramesh, Anand Raj, Munish Kanth, Redin Kingsley, Sivaangi Krishnakumar, and Shivani Narayanan in important roles. The music for the movie is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.

Vadivelu's next project in his pipeline is "Maamanan," which is being directed by Mari Selvaraj and stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles. In addition to that, he is working alongside Raghava Lawrence for Chandramukhi 2, helmed by P Vasu.
