Viral story: When Vijay releases the trailer of the movie that is staunchly opposed by BJP!

Iconic actor Vijay took his ardent fans by surprise as, for the first time in his career, he has released the trailer of another flick on Tuesday - January 10. While the event surprised his fans on one hand, it has shocked the BJP and Hindutva leaders on the other hand as the trailer that was released by Vijay is of upcoming Shah Rukh Khan's movie 'Pathaan' that has been staunchly opposed by the BJP leaders.

Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand and has been slated for a theatrical release on January 25 and it will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. On Tuesday, the trailer of the movie was unveiled and the Tamil version was released by Vijay. Taking to Twitter, Vijay wrote, "Wishing Shah Rukh Khan sir and the team all the best for Pathaan." The Tamil version of the trailer has received overwhelming reception and the fans have reminisced the bonding between both the stars.

As Shah Rukh Khan is back to the action after a long time and as Vijay has released a trailer for the first time, Pathaan has garnered a sharp attention from the Tamil audience. The trailer has earned over 3.40 lakh views in a short time and following the release, Shah Rukh Khan thanked Vijay for releasing the trailer and said 'let's meet for delicious feast soon'.

Taking to Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "Thank you my friend Vijay. You are Thalapathy for this humble reason, let's meet for delicious feast soon. Mikka Nandri Nanba! Idhanala Dhaan Neenga Thalapathy koodiya viraivil oru arumaiyana virunthil santhipom. Love you." Tollywood star Ram Charan has released the Telugu version of Pathaan's trailer.

Pathaan is counting the days for its release after facing episodes of serious attacks and setbacks from the BJP and Hindutva functionaries, while earning a support from the fans. The BJP functionaries have been building a campaign to boycott Pathaan. The reason why the BJP has been opposing the movie is a song in the movie in which the party claims that the saffron colour was insulted.

Last month, the BJP activists and other Hindu outfits in Uttar Pradesh called for boycott Pathaan for insulting Sanatan Sanskriti. BJP leader Rajesh Kesarwani said, "Vulgarity with saffron colour was being committed in a song in the movie and it's an insult to Hindu community and sanatan culture. Hence, we have expressed our concern." The party has also urged the Uttar Pradesh government to ban the movie in the state.

Earlier, BJP-ruling Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the costumes and scenes in the movie 'obscene and condemnable'. Mishra said, "Actress Deepika Padukone's costume is highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset. The scenes and costumes of the songs should be changed, or we will have to take a decision on its screening in Madhya Pradesh."

Madhya Pradesh Speaker Girish Gautam has said that Shah Rukh Khan should watch the movie with his daughter. "Shah Rukh should watch this film with his daughter, upload a picture and tell the world that he is watching it with his daughter. I challenge you to make a similar film on the Prophet and run it", he added.

A Hindu saint in Ayodhya said that if he sees Shah Rukh Khan in person, he would burn the actor alive and if anyone burns the actor, the saint said he will support them. Controversial BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur has urged the actor to leave the country. Responding to these claims, Shah Rukh Khan last month said, "Pathaan is also very patriotic...but in an action way."

After several setbacks, Pathaan is nearing its release with its trailer has been unveiled by popular icons like Vijay. Pathaan is a spy action-thriller movie helmed by Siddharth Anand and bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. Through Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan is making his comeback after five years while Deepike Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia are playing crucial roles. Interestingly, Salman Khan is playing a cameo role and the movie is made at a budget of Rs 250 crore.
