Viral Talk: Suriya's fantasy epic Kanguva to be out on this date...

The wait is over for the fans, as the makers of his upcoming magnum opus Kanguva to unveil the first glimpse of the film within few hours. Kanguva, which means ‘man with the power of fire’ in Tamil, is a period action drama film directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana. The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations.

The two-minute video, which will be released today midnight, has set the internet on fire with anticipation to witness Suriya’s multiple avatars.  The makers of Kanguva are planning to make the film as a two parts, with the first instalment hitting the screens on April 12th, 2024. The glimpse is expected to reveal the official release date along with a sneak peek of the film.

The film stars Suriya in five roles, leading an ensemble cast that includes Disha Patani (in her Tamil debut), Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash. The premise reveals that the film revolves around a warrior named Arathar Venkaater who lived in 1678 and died due to a mysterious disease.

In the present day, a girl (played by Disha Patani) does research on the disease that killed him and uncovers a shocking truth. The film also features Suriya as Mandaankar, Mukaatar, Perumanathar and few crucial roles.

The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and editing by Nishadh Yusuf. Made on a budget of ₹350 crore (US$44 million), Kanguva is the fifth most expensive Indian film to date. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats. The film will also be dubbed and released in 10 languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English.

Kanguva is expected to be a game-changer for Suriya’s career, as he has been experimenting with different genres and roles in his recent films. His last release was Etharkum Thunindhavan and Vikram, which were the huge hits.  Suriya is also busy with other projects, such as Vaadivaasal directed by Vetrimaaran, Suriya 43 said to be directed by Sudha Kongara.
